New movie "The Monuments Men" portrays real-life Wisconsin archivists who rescued artwork from the Nazis during World War II.
UW-Madison Libraries are using the local connection as an outreach opportunity. Memorial Library is displaying Our Monuments Men: UW's Role in Rescuing Europe's Treasures through February. University Archives features two Monuments Men -- Gilbert Doane and Jesse Boell -- on its blog.
The publicity has worked. The Wisconsin State Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspapers have published articles about the University of Wisconsin's role in the film.
